How to Bet on the MLB
If you’ve never bet on Major League Baseball, you may find it a bit simpler to bet than other sports. With a 162 game season, you have plenty of opportunities to cash in on the action. Here are some of the bets you will be able to place on Major League Baseball at Pennsylvania online sportsbooks.
Moneyline – This is a great starter bet for MLB betting as you’re wagering whether your team will win the game. The MLB odds given for your team tell you how much you can win. Teams with + odds are the underdog and the odds given is how much you will win a $100 bet. Team with – odds are the favorite, and the odds are how much you have to bet to win $100. If the Pirates are +210 and win against the Phillies, you get $210 for a $100 bet.
Run Line – The MLB run line is similar to a point spread in other sports. If the Phillies have a -2 run line, then they have to score at least three runs to win. If the line is +2, they’d have to lose by less than two runs.
Total Runs – This your standard over/under bet. If the total runs line is 6.5 for a game, then you’d bet whether the teams will combine for more or fewer runs.
Prop Betting – These are non-standard bets that may not depend on specific game results. Examples are placing bets on which team will commit a balk in the game.
Futures – Futures bets are bets based on a long-term event, such as who will win the Cy Young award or win the NL Championship Series. The MLB odds on these bets can be pretty long for some teams, such as those that are expected to finish dead last.
